No woman behind my separation

Dia Mirza hit out at the speculation that Judgementall Hai Kya writer Kanika Dhillon was responsible for driving a wedge between her and Sahil Sangha. Reports were doing the rounds that Kanika’s growing proximity with Sahil ended his marriage with Dia as well as her own marriage with Prakash Kovelamudi.

Kanika Dhillon slammed the “laughable, despicable and irresponsible” rumours that blamed her for Dia and Sahil’s split.

“Laughable, despicable, irresponsible! Fiction writing is my job! Can tabloids be a little more responsible please? Just because 2 news items come at the same time, they can’t be interlinked! It’s not a potpourri! Have NEVER met Dia/Sahil in my ENTIRE life! Please get over it and let us get back to work!” she tweeted.

Dia came out in support of Kanika and lashed out at the baseless speculation in a series of tweets. “This is to clarify and put to rest all kind of speculation that is being bandied about by a certain section of the media regarding my separation with Sahil. It is most unfortunate to see the level of irresponsibility exercised,” she wrote.

In another tweet, the actress wrote, “What is even more unfortunate is that our colleagues names are being tarnished and maligned by this media. As a woman I will not stand for another woman’s name being used so irresponsibly to perpetuate a lie.”

Dia Mirza said that no third person was responsible for the end of her marriage with Sahil Sangha.

“There is absolutely no truth to the alleged reports and no third person is the reason for Sahil and I to part ways. We have requested the media to be graceful and allow us this time for some privacy. Really hope they can respect that,” she added.

On Thursday, Dia and Sahil announced their decision to end their marriage in a joint statement released on social media. “After 11 years of sharing our lives and being together, we have mutually decided to separate. We remain friends and will continue to be there for each other with love and respect. While our journeys may lead us down different paths, we are forever grateful for the bond that we share with each other,” they wrote.

The same day, Kanika announced her separation from the Judgementall Hai Kya director. She revealed in an interview with a website that their marriage ended two years ago, even before the film went on floors.

Some tabloids decided to correlate the two, and claimed that Kanika’s closeness with Sahil had ended their respective marriages. However, the writer clarified that she has never even met him.

Dia also backed Kanika and said, “As a woman I will not stand for another woman’s name being used so irresponsibly to perpetuate a lie.”
