‘Power’ Season 6: Fans say show is dragging the ‘who shot Ghost’ plot, compare it to ‘Game of Thrones’

This article contains spoilers for season 6, episode 2: ‘He Always Wins’

Three things were clear after the intense rush and thrill of tonight’s episode of ‘Power’ season 6: Paz is definitely unlike 90 percent of the show’s characters, Tommy is sneakier than we have believed, and of course – Ghost, most likely, is dead (even though fans will argue that). However, the other thing fans are sure of from tonight’s episode 12: ‘He Always Wins’, is that the show is sort of falling prey to dragging this whole ‘who killed Ghost?’ subplot longer than they should. While a lot of fans are fine with it, there’s a certain chunk of the audience that believes this might lead to the show ending up with a disappointment like ‘Game of Thrones’.

The episode sees “Paz, still grieving Angela’s death, seeking allies in the pursuit of justice or vengeance. So she forms an alliance with Jacob Warner.” And in the official promo-teaser of the episode we had seen Ghost telling Paz that if he could trade his life for Angela’s, he would. Until now she was also certain that Ghost had killed Pat’s sister, Angela, but this episode changes everything about that conception and shows Tasha finally revealing to her that it wasn’t Ghost, it was Tommy who killed Angela.

In the middle, there was also the whole digression about Paz’s son Junior, who stole her gun and fled to kill Ghost as he too had vowed to get the family justice. But then Paz turned up at the gathering and took the gun from Junior to almost shoot Ghost, but eventually couldn’t go along with it. She just wasn’t one of those people on the show who think of killing someone when there’s no other way. So it’s not Paz, neither Junior, or even Ramona – who fans think is a strong suspect in shooting Ghost. And while a lot of them also think that since this season’s prime puzzle is ‘Who shot Ghost’ and not who ‘killed’ Ghost, there’s a strong possibility that he is still alive somewhere, the whole dragging it out too long looks like a unanimous feeling on Twitter.

“#WhoShotGhost is killing me. They are really going to drag this out until the final episode. Most likely will be #Tariq who shot #Ghost because Tasha didn’t do it and Tommy could have been killed Ghost. Tate and Saxe definitely didn’t do it. I still feel it could be Q too,” wrote a fan on Twitter. Another commented: “So power gonna drag this #WhoShotGhost sh*t for 4 more episodes, y’all about to be on some Game of thrones sh*t fr.” Comparisons of ‘How to Get Away with Murder’ also flew in, as a fan wrote: “Yea I’m definitely not feeling this #WhoShotGhost saga…leave that to #HTGAWM If #PowerTV wanted to drag out something, they could’ve done that with Angela’s death… Just tell us who shot Ghost and show us the fall out.”

‘Power’ season 6 airs on Sundays at 8 PM ET only on Starz.
