January has turned out to be extra-special for Ranveer Singh. If you are thinking it was just because of his wife Deepika Padukone’s birthday, we tell you that he is also celebrating legendary cricketer Kapil Dev’s birthday today (January 6). And on the occasion, he has shared a few pictures with him on social media.

Ranveer, who is essaying the role of Kapil Dev, former captain of the Indian Cricket Team, in Kabir Khan’s upcoming film 83, took to Instagram and wished him a happy birthday. Ranveer referred to India’s World Cup win of 1983 and said that now the team of 83 will make him “proud.”

The Gully Boy actor wrote, “Happy Birthday, Legend! Thank you for showing us the way. You made us proud. Now it’s our turn… @83thefilm.”

As far as the photo is concerned, Ranveer and Kapil are sharing a happy moment on the sets of 83. Ranveer, dressed as his character in 83, can be seen wearing a jersey reads ‘India 1983.’ Kapil, on the other hand, is dressed in casuals and is seen resting his hand on Ranveer’s shoulder.

Ranveer has also shared two other pictures on his handle. In the first picture, Kapil can be seen playing cricket on the field as the actor looks at him. The second photo also features director Kabir Khan along with Ranveer and Kapil.

In every post, Ranveer kept the same caption.

Back in 2019, when Ranveer had shared a picture of himself recreating Kapil’s iconic Natraj shot for the film 83, the former cricketer had tweeted, “Hats off, Ranveer.”

Every now and then, Ranveer Singh keeps sharing pictures with Kapil Dev from the film set on social media. For the unversed, Kapil also trained Ranveer for his role in the film, a glimpse of which was seen on the actor’s Instagram page.

In fact, Ranveer had also wished Kapil a happy birthday last year. The actor posted a throwback picture of the cricketer holding the World Cup trophy after the 1983 match win.

Apart from Ranveer, 83 also stars Deepika Padukone, Harrdy Sandhu, Saqib Saleem, Pankaj Tripathi, Boman Irani, Tahir Raj Bhasin and many others. The film will hit the screens this year.

Kapil Dev, who turned 61 today, has been regarded as one of the best captains of the Indian Cricket Team. He retired from international cricket in 1994. Under his captainship, India had defeated West Indies and won its first World Cup at Lord’s, in 1983.
