Watch out for these common tourist scams

This tourist scam happens often in Bangkok, where visitors get into a tuk-tuk and ask to be driven to the Grand Palace, a popular tourist attraction. But instead of being taken to the palace, they’re told it’s closed for a religious holiday, and instead they end up at a souvenir shop where the driver gets a hefty commission. Anywhere in the world that you go and are told a major tourist attraction is closed for the day, it’s worth asking around for a second opinion.
