Destinations that became mainstream in 2018

The small Nordic island of Iceland, with a population of just over 300,000, welcomed more than 2 million tourists in 2017, up from 1.7 million the year before, and by all indications that number will have gone up once again by the end of 2018. The majority of visitors end up in Reykjavik, the country’s capital, “famous for its weekend nightlife, bars, clubs, cafés, restaurants, shopping malls, etc.”
