A family’s willing to pay £40K for a nanny to look after their little ones – but there’s a caveat.
The applicants have to be willing to dress like a Disney princess during working hours.
The family, from Hertfordshire, is looking for someone willing to pick the girls up from school, cook dinner and put the kids to bed dressed, all dressed as Disney characters from the likes of ‘Frozen’ and ‘Brave’.ÂÂ
In an ad for the job, posted on childcare.co.uk, the mum acknowledges it’s a “slightly unusual requestâ€Â.
“Myself and my husband are looking for a part-time nanny to care for our twin girls during the week, but we want to hire someone to look after our children whilst in character as a different Disney princess every month, such as Princess Anna, Moana, Rapunzel and Princess Merida,†she writes.
The woman explains her daughters are obsessed with Disney, and that the couple are looking to teach their children about strong female role models.ÂÂ
“We know this isn’t a normal request for nannies, however we think it would be a great way to teach our girls about things like determination, compassion, fearlessness and ambition from strong yet relatable female role models like Princess Tiana, Princess Anna, Belle and Cinderella,†the ad continues.
The family wants a nanny who can create a Disney-esque fun atmosphere in their home, but who will also be able to lay down the law when the children push the boundaries.ÂÂ
The successful candidate will be expected to work afternoons and evenings Tuesday to Friday, doing “Disney-related activities†like baking, singing and arts and crafts with the girls.
The parents are offering a £40,000 salary and will pay to hire each Disney princess costume.
Concluding her unique nanny-plea the mum-of-two wrote: “We think it’s a great opportunity for someone to get really creative and add a little magic to our girl’s lives!â€Â
This isn’t the first unusual request for a nanny to have surprised the Internet. Last year a couple went online to look for a nanny to help raise their child like he is in the Victorian times.
The family placed the ad for the unusual employee as they think it is the only way to guarantee that their seven-year-old son will grow up well behaved and polite.
“We’re a traditional couple from a very traditional and patriotic family and are set on raising our children in a way similar to the Victorians,†the advert reads.
“The Victorian style of parenting helped create well-rounded, respectable and polite young people who went on in later life to become great and successful adults.
“This is the vision we have for our son and it’s something which has moulded our family, and our relationships with other families/friends.â€Â
Also last year, a mum and dad started a search to find an expert to help teach their children about the birds and the bees.ÂÂ
The controversial listing explained that the parents were looking for a childcare professional to teach the children “about the complexities of puberty, intimacy and consent†because they themselves are struggling to answer their questions.
