The date has been set for April 17 as the launch of billion-dollar development Jewel Changi Airport, and that’s when Shake Shack will also open its doors to the public. Confirming its Southeast Asian launch date, the fast casual burger joint  originally from New York City  has partnered with SPC Group from South Korea to bring its goods to Singapore.
Known for its all-natural Angus beef burgers, griddled flat-top beef hotdogs, frozen custard ice cream, and crinkle cut fries, the cult brand has made its mark at over 200 locations in the US and more than 70 international outlets, including Seoul, Hong Kong, and London. Its impeding debut here has been talked about ever since the news was just a rumor, but if you haven’t had the chance to try any of its offerings overseas, here’s a look at what you can expect next month.
Shake Shack’s classic cheeseburger sandwiches a beef patty (or two) grilled to medium doneness between two pillowy potato buns, packed in with lettuce, tomato, and a “secret ShackSauce.†It’s essentially your introduction to the brand’s smashed burgers, so first-timers will probably want to order this before anything else.
The veggie version comes with a hunk of fried portobello mushroom that’s stuffed with melted Colby cheese, monterey jack, and tilsit cheese, plus lettuce, tomato, and more of that ShackSauce goodness on a potato bun.
To add a little variety to your regular cheeseburger, this one comes topped with applewood smoked bacon, grilled cherry peppers, and ShackSauce for a meat-filled affair.
If you can’t quite decide between the first two, this monster hybrid is your best best. It brings together the ShackBurger and ‘Shroom Burger with beef and fried portobello patties separated by a luscious layer of cheese.
You may know Shake Shake as a popular burger stand, but the brand actually originated from a humble hot dog cart in Madison Square Garden. Perhaps that’s all the more reason to try the beef hot dog, which is split and stuffed with relish, onion, cucumber, pickle, tomato, sport pepper, celery salt, and mustard.
On the drinks side, look out for Fifty/Fifty, a lemonade and iced tea hybrid that could be a welcome relief from Singapore’s sunny rays, as well as chocolate-vanilla, strawberry, and chocolate milkshakes, plus the ShackMeister Ale brewed by Brooklyn Brewery (which you can pair with the ShackBurger in a meal set). And for dessert, you’ve got frozen custard in rather standard flavors like vanilla and chocolate to choose from.
In time to come, you can also look out for “one-of-a-kind items for the Singapore community,†according to Shake Shack’s PR people, as the brand collaborates with local names in the food scene here for cool new menu creations. Prices and the full menu will be released at a later date.
Shack Shack Singapore will open on Apr 17 at #02-256 Jewel Changi Airport, 78 Airport Blvd.
