25 Mar – Although it has been more than a year since ATV Digital Media announced its intention to adapt the hit 1980 movie, “A Better Tomorrow”, the company recently assured that everything is going according to plan.
As reported on Mingpao, CEO Ho Lai Chuen, who was asked about the previous project, shared that they are indeed planning to helm the television adaptation and had spent months preparing and waiting for approval before they can continue with the project.
Ho also stated that since the story and the protagonist of the original film is already deeply rooted in people’s heart, ATV may attempt to do a sequel instead of sticking to the original story.
“We’re planning to use young and fresh new faces and we may be casting actors from both the mainland and Hong Kong for this. It may put them on a lot of pressure since the movie is such a classic, but it will also be a good opportunity for them,” he said.
He added that for the time being, the company plans to shoot 12 episodes.
On the other hand, director Jones Soong stated that it took them nine months to prepare the script. They are currently awaiting ATV to approve the project before production can start.
