Italy’s first-ever Mormon temple opened this week—on the Vatican’s doorstep. The church is 40,000 sq. ft, manufactured from Italian marble and granite, and has glowing Swarvoski crystal and Murano glass chandeliers set in 24-carat gold. Elder Ronald Rasband, one in all 12 “Apostles” who govern the Mormon Church, says the selection of Rome is predicated on its historical past as the middle of Christianity. Rasband says Mormon leaders mentioned their plans with the Vatican. (?: LDS Church)
