Joe Mihalich named MBWA Co-Coach of the 12 months


Hofstra head coach Joe Mihalich was named the All-Met Division I males’s school basketball Peter A. Carlesimo Co-Coach of the 12 months together with Seton Corridor’s Kevin Willard, the Met Basketball Writers Affiliation introduced Monday.

Mihalich led Hofstra to a program-record 27 wins and a CAA regular-season title. In his seventh season on the helm, Mihalich led Hofstra (27-8) on a 16-game in-season win streak. The Pleasure earned an NIT berth, the place they misplaced to North Carolina State within the first spherical, after falling to Northeastern within the CAA championship recreation.

St. John’s Shamorie Ponds, the reigning MBWA Participant of the 12 months, and Hofstra’s Justin Wright-Foreman have been named to the All-Met First Crew.

The winner of the Lt. Frank J. Haggerty Participant of the 12 months award shall be introduced Tuesday on the NIT/MBWA Haggerty Awards dinner on the Westchester Marriott in Tarrytown.

St. John’s Mustapha Heron, Hofstra’s Eli Pemberton and Stony Brook’s Akwasi Yeboah have been named to the All-Met Second Crew. St. John’s L.J. Figueroa and Justin Simon have been named to the Third Crew.

Fordham’s Nick Honor was named Rookie of the 12 months.
