A 71-year-old Frenchman set off on Wednesday throughout the Atlantic Ocean on this 10-foot-long orange barrel that he spent months crafting. Jean-Jacques Savin is hoping to drift from the Canary Islands, off the coast of West Africa, to the Caribbean by the top of March. He’s touring one to 2 miles an hour with the assistance of currents and wind alone, he informed the AFP information company. The vessel incorporates a mattress and a small kitchen, in addition to some area for storage. Savin has stowed away a bottle of Sauternes white wine and a few foie gras for New Yr’s Eve, and a bottle of Saint-Émilion pink for his birthday in January, in keeping with AFP.
