Counties throughout Florida have been coping with crimson tide, and the marine life it’s killed, for months. Crimson tide’s neurotoxins are lethal to marine life and might irritate folks’s pores and skin; it could actually even trigger respiratory points, particularly for folks with bronchial asthma. Though crimson tide can happen naturally in Florida, many scientists blame agricultural runoff and septic tanks for fueling the nitrogen-consuming algae.
