Retired Supreme Courtroom Justice Sandra Day O’Connor, 88, revealed in a letter on Tuesday that she has been identified with the “starting levels of dementia, in all probability Alzheimer’s illness.” O’Connor, pictured above in 2005, was nominated to the bench by President Reagan as the primary feminine Supreme Courtroom justice of the US in 1981. She retired from the bench in 2006, partly to take care of her husband, who was ailing from Alzheimer’s. (?: Mark Wilson/Getty Photos)
