Horses, you’re going to have to shake it off for a few minutes on Melbourne Cup day this year.
Taylor Swift is going to sing at the Melbourne Cup. We repeat: Taylor Swift will sing at the Melbourne Cup.
The music megastar will perform two songs from her latest album Lover at Flemington Racecourse on November 5 in the Mounting Yard before the big race.
It means that anyone who is on the racecourse that day will be able to see her in person, and of course, you’ll be able to catch her right here on Network 10, the broadcaster of the 2019 Lexus Melbourne Cup Carnival.
The Herald Sun reports that the deal to get Swift out here was sealed by promoter Michael Gudinski.
Gudinski is a huge figure in the Australian music industry, who founded iconic record label Mushroom Records in 1972. He is also a keen racing person who has co-owned two Melbourne Cup winners in the past few years — Almandin in 2016 and Rekindling in 2017.
Regardless of whether a horse he owns wins the Cup this year, he’s already had a huge win getting Swift across the finish line.
More to come.
