Hayley Atwell on joining the Mission: Impossible sequels

Hayley Atwell has opened up about joining Mission: Impossibles 7 and 8, admitting that she is “thrilled” to be involved with Tom Cruise and writer and director Christopher McQuarrie on both blockbusters.

“To have gone from a classical play in the west-end to an audio book recording of a great new novel to a Disney/Marvel animation and now the female lead in a huge action franchise is the kind of variety that fuels my curiosity and keeps me learning and striving to be better and do better,” wrote Atwell on Instagram.

Clearly the Marvel actress, who will reprise her role as Peggy Carter in the upcoming animated series What If for Disney +, is rather enjoying how her career is panning out.

Atwell also vowed that she will keep her Instagram followers completely up to date as she trains and prepares for what promises to be a rather arduous shoot.

“I can’t wait to start sharing this adventure with you,” continued Atwell. “Mostly in the form of effusive, sweaty ranting about stunt training while spontaneously vomiting with excitement/exhaustion. Lucky you.”

As well as starring Atwell, Rebecca Ferguson has also confirmed that she will return as former MI6 agent Ilsa Faust for the upcoming Mission: Impossible films, while, obviously, Cruise will lead the way as IMF agent Ethan Hunt.

McQuarrie will undoubtedly look to put Cruise in even more precarious and dangerous situations than each of the previous Mission: Impossible films in the sequels, which are set to be shot back-to-back in the next few months, and are currently scheduled to be released on July 23, 2021, and August 5, 2022.
