Sammy Jabrail got into a car accident exactly two years ago, having received multiple fractures of the ribs, legs, pelvis, spine, bruise and concussion, and damage to internal organs. At the hospital, she was forced to amputate her leg, and after that her life changed forever.
However, despite everything that happened to her, the model admits that she has no reason to give up. Thanks to loved ones, she did not despair, now she is filming photo shoots, writing a book about her life and blogging about other people with disabilities.
Biography and Education
Sammy Jabrail was born in the North Caucasus. At the age of 15, she entered the university, and after receiving a diploma in taxation, she moved to St. Petersburg, where she began to actively engage in sports and started a blog on Instagram. The girl worked as a model, worked in a small private bar, dreamed of moving to the USA and opening her own business.
New York was already waiting for me, I wanted to make articulated dolls: I always dreamed of my own workshop, a little dusty, gloomy, small and cozy, She said in interview the publication "Dog".
But two years ago, 10 days before his 29th birthday, Jabrail had a terrible accident. At the wheel of the car was a girl's friend, the Thai boxing coach Stas. He lost control on a slippery road and crashed into a chipper on a highway near Vyborg. After the girl woke up, she could not move.
I saw almost nothing, everything was blurring before my eyes. My spine, ribs, pelvis, one leg were broken, and the other was torn off, but I hardly felt any pain. Only horror – Sammy recalls that day.
The ambulance rode for a very long time, and the girl lost a lot of blood. Jabrail spent six days in a coma and underwent several operations, one of them lasted 10 hours. However, it was not possible to save the leg. Sammy was in the hospital for a month and a half. She had seroma – inflammation in an amputated leg.
On the night of September 7-8, my friend and I (trainer / colleague in one person) + my dog got into a serious accident. Alas, suffered a lot. I have multiple fractures and amputation of my right leg. 6 days of coma, 7 in consciousness. The comrade also has amputation of the leg and damage. The dog is alive and well. In general, guys, you know, they say "no one is safe from anything", this is the exact phrase. Do not lose heart. The other day I already had my third birthday, I want to believe that he is the last. I embrace everyone, weakly, but confidently, – the girl wrote shortly after the fatal accident, posting a photo from the hospital ward.
Sammy decided for herself that if she only thinks that everything is bad and without a leg she is “bad, scary, ugly,†then her life will only be worse. She was prescribed psychologists and psychotherapists, but in the end, Jabrail realized that she was her own doctor, and the expert sessions were boring and ineffective.
It was an accident. Hit. The biggest surprise. I remember the word: "hold on," the last thought in my head: "Have I really had an accident." In general, I remembered a lot and will write about it as much as possible. With a creative approach, a little stagnation, rehabilitation is such a thing, She said.
According to the girl, she has the right to whine, complain, give up, but she is not going to give up. Sammy is in constant pain (medications do not always help), but next to her are always close people who help, support morally and financially.
I was enveloped in such love that even if I wanted to, I could not fail my people. I don’t know how they waited for six damn days, because when I woke up, it seemed to me that three hours had passed, and frankly, I was not very eager to enter this world. Will is something incomprehensible. I always knew that I was strong, but I could not even think to what extent. I was always very afraid of injuries, from scratches to what happened. It is incredible what the human body is capable of. However, the Love, Unconditional Love and Care that surrounded me give me strength. Thanks you. The greatest thanks that a girl in this story can express She wrote on the microblog.
The girl had to learn to walk again. “In small steps, the main thing is on the right track,†she said. Sammy knew that she still had a long way to go, but thanks to her inner fire and family, she intended to recover much faster than the doctors had expected. Even at the hospital, Jabrail did not stop taking care of herself: use makeup and make masks.
I remember my mother’s words: a woman can be in any conditions, no one asks her to look luxurious, but she is obliged to look clean and tidy. Someone may disagree, but in my head this installation still works. Therefore, in whatever conditions I find myself, if I hadn’t the opportunity to wash my hands, I would at least cut my nails to zero, – the girl admitted.
By her example, Sammy inspires 167 thousand of his followers on Instagram. Every day she receives a huge number of messages and tries to read everything and answer everyone as much as possible. However, she does not consider herself a blogger and does not aspire to be him. According to Jabrail, she just wants to share something very important with network users.
I want to show how it still happens. What is a fight. And the most important thing is to help not lose the value of life. The more people hear me, the stronger I will believe in the power of words and thoughts, She wrote.
Exactly a year ago, with the help of friends and followers on Instagram, Sammy was able to acquire a high-quality bionic prosthesis. It costs four million rubles. Two months after the successful operation, Sammy published her first photo with her new leg.
No one will return to me the former activity. And do not feel me anymore the ground under two legs. But I will have a great alternative. Iron. She will be as aesthetically pleasing as possible. I’m not going to hide her, – said the girl.

The girl admits that she often sees on the faces of others a "bizarre mixture of emotions."
Acidic arrogance and, at the same time, the joy of illumination – they say it’s good that I am not in its place; pity mixed with disgust, confusion, sometimes – outright fright; the zoo’s curiosity and desire to better see where and how my injured leg ends … Of course, this is not always and not with everyone, but so often that I consider it my duty to put one more emphasis on this, She says.
Despite the fact that Sammy is actively blogging, she is in no hurry to share the details of her personal life. We did not find a single photo with her lover on Instagram of the girl. However, like family cadres.
I have a good relationship with my family, but I prefer to keep secret everything that concerns her. Love me – this is the most important thingShe said.
One of the most important goals, according to the girl, is to try to change attitudes towards people with disabilities. She does not want to be seen in her only as a disabled person.
It is necessary that people begin to understand: the other does not mean "bad" or "scary." This xenophobia slows down our society, people are afraid of everything. Nothing limits me – less than six months have passed, and I'm sitting with you in a cafe in the city center. I do not need to be sorry: I, like everyone else, sleep, talk, eat, do my own thing, live. I don’t think for days on end: "Oh, how am I so without a leg," She admits.
The girl is actively involved in sports, participates in the cultural life of the Northern capital and arranges photo shoots, which she publishes in her microblog to the delight of fans.
By the end of the year, Sammy plans to release a book and a comic book based on her life story.
It will have many characters (including my friends), an original plot and very beautiful, unique drawings in the style of science fiction of modern times. You already read something on the blog, but you weren’t familiar with something before, – she said.
Sammy has several of his own projects. The first is Cyberpunk with new technology designer Nikita Replyansky. He is developing a prototype neurointerface mask that will expand or restore cognitive or sensory-motor functions.
The second project is called "Good Saturdays" – on these days the girl collects funds for sick children and adults on her instagram page. In the future, she would like to collaborate with humanitarian organizations such as the Red Cross.
I like to understand the path traveled and not discount it. I’m glad that she survived, didn’t let her relatives down, survived, – says Sammy.
