The new U1 chip from Apple allows its devices to locate nearby smartphones and send more accurate signals about its position. The chip is precise with its signals and this would allow apps and features in the future to fully rely on the location data provided by the phones.
Potentially, Apple iPhone 11 owners may see services that use this precise location finder chip to deliver services their way. The apps that could use this in the future include smart home tech, augmented reality, mobile payments, keyless car entry, and indoor navigation, according to SixColors. Apple has avenues to pull off these features off, namely: its new services and subscriptions this 2019 and some patented devices that could make use of these features in the future.
Ultra Wideband Technology
The Ultra Wideband Technology (UWB) technology is considered to be the next step for Bluetooth in terms of providing location data. The UWB has better range than Bluetooth and can be flexible enough to shorten its range if needed.
So far, Apple’s iPhone 11 lineup will be the first smartphones to have this feature.
