Chanel also invested a lot of personal stuff in the design: for example, the burgundy lining is inspired by the color of the clothes that young Gabrielle wore in Obazin Abbey – she got to the monastery at the age of 11 years after the death of her mother (Chanel left her with her sister and two brothers), and the chain strap is a reference to the keychains on the same chains worn by the nuns.

When Karl Lagerfeld headed the fashion house in 1983, bag production was suspended for some time – the Chanel Boy model from quilted leather and with a massive lock in the form of a brand logo came to the fore.
