From Kuch Kuch Hota Hai to Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, Karan Johar films made a statement right from the moment they hit the theatres.Â
Years have passed, but these films still remain fresh in our minds.
With time, the director-producer came up with films like Kuch Hota Hai and Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna, which also had a huge impact. In 2016, he came up with Aae Dil Hai Mushkil. The film made much noise but received mixed reviews from the critics.

Karan’s films have always been high on emotions and he says it’s because he is a melodramatic person. Talking at India Today Conclave Mumbai 2019, Karan explained his take on films.
He said, “I’m a melodramatic person. That’s something that is there in my DNA. Aditya Chopra told me, “How can you not make movies? You’re a drama queen. The only thing you don’t have is an interval.” I love a good cry. I love opulence. I love what Indian cinema stands for. So any time I need to push the buttons for the heartstrings, I do it. That core Hindi film lies in me. That Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham filmmaker is still in me. I am trying to be relevant in this day and age. Ae Dil Hai Mushkil was a piece of my broken heart. It was my most pleasurable working experience. Everyone said Ranbir Kapoor was so rich but a cry baby in the film, but I said emotions do not come with a balance sheet.”
After three year, Karan is getting back to the director’s chair with Takht. The film features an ensemble starcast including Ranveer Singh, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Alia Bhatt, Vicky Kaushal, Bhumi Pednekar, Janhvi Kapoor and Anil Kapoor.
