They stick together in formation, guns at the ready, until they reach their target. It’s just a drill, and the weapons are plastic, but these young people are preparing for the real thing. They are the the Wisconsin Army Cadets — one of several military “Explorer” groups across the US that are training young people for careers in the armed forces. “My friends give me a lot of crap for being in this program, making fun of it a bit, saying it’s like the Boy Scouts,” said Skylor Maynard, 15. “But this is not like the Boy Scouts.
