They stick together in formation, guns at the ready, until they reach their target. Itâ€™s just a drill, and the weapons are plastic, but these young people are preparing for the real thing. They are the the Wisconsin Army Cadets â€” one of several military â€œExplorerâ€ groups across the US that are training young people for careers in the armed forces. â€œMy friends give me a lot of crap for being in this program, making fun of it a bit, saying itâ€™s like the Boy Scouts,â€ said Skylor Maynard, 15. â€œBut this is not like the Boy Scouts.
