Freshly painted sign on Ogden’s Swift Building in 1950 |

Ranae Porter said her father, Donald S. Child, shot this photo of his work to paint the Swift Building in 1950. Porter said Child was a military sign painter in World War II. “When he returned home he continued to paint signs all around Ogden on billboards, trucks and windows as a side job,” Porter said. “He was an amazing artist and took photos of much of his work through the years to document his history.” Child died on May 13, 2011.
