French actress accuses Roman Polanski of rape

Director Roman Polanski is back in the middle of a sex scandal – French actress and photographer Valentin Monier accused the 86-year-old filmmaker of rape. Her story, which allegedly happened 44 years ago, she told the publication Le Parisien.

According to Monier, this happened while relaxing at a ski resort in Switzerland, where she first saw Polanski – they were introduced by mutual friends.

In 1975, Roman Polanski raped me. I barely knew him and had nothing to do with him – neither professional nor personal.

He beat me, tore off my clothes, at some point I gave up, then he forced me to undergo a number of unpleasant actions. At that time, I was just 18 years old.

Why was Monier silent for 44 years? A desire to reveal the truth to the world came to her after the news about the release of Polanski’s new film “Officer and Spy” (J'accuse, 2019), which tells about the most high-profile trial in the history of France and the subsequent social conflict – the Dreyfus case.

Then, in 1975, Monnier did not go to the police because of fear: she was afraid that a famous director might kill her in order to avoid publicity.

Recall, in 1977, a Los Angeles court found Roman Polansky guilty of molesting 13-year-old Samantha Gamer. The director then pleaded guilty, making a deal with the investigation – after spending 42 days in prison, he was released. Polanski later fled to France, as the judge announced the need to sentence the filmmaker to 50 years in prison. Today, Polanski is on the list of individuals wanted by Interpol.
