Darlene Love slams NBC – again – after The View performance [Video]

Darlene Love is calling out NBC — again! The 78 year-old legendary vocalist was the subject of controversy earlier this month after she took to Facebook to express her disappointment at not being asked to perform at the Christmas tree lighting extravaganza at Rockefeller Center in New York City.
Instead, NBC chose Pitch Perfect alum Skylar Astin and former Glee actress Alex Newell to sing Love’s iconic song Christmas (Baby Please Come Home). According to Love, her publicist has been trying for years to get her on the annual special, but NBC has continued to snub her.
Well, now she’s moving on. ABC’s The View had Love on the show to perform the song along with pop singer Jason Derulo. After the performance, she said about the controversy, “I’ve sung at the White House, I’ve sung at the David Letterman Show for 29 years — I’ve done a tree lighting all over this country, except for here.â€
There were mixed reactions on Twitter, with some people people saying the singer overreacted.
One even accused her of whining:
OMGosh!
Another Whiner!
Might be any number of reasons she wasn’t asked to participate. All artists learn to take criticism and not be invited to participate. Ask any musician, painter, sculptor, dancer. We all have to learn to suck up disappointment and work harder/improve.— Tumbleweed Contessa (@MimiAndMona) December 7, 2019
While another claimed that artists today are too sensitive:
Why r artist so sensitive & think it’s all about them? @MsDarleneLove was young once & knows how the business is>young artist sing everybody’s songs including that of Jeff Barry, Ellie Greenwich& Phil Spector~

But some agreed with Love. The View co-host, Meghan McCain also weighed in on Twitter:
Hands down one of the best parts of being a co-host of â¦@TheViewâ© is getting to hear Darlene Love sing Christmas (baby, please come home) live for our show tradition. It’s her song, no one performs it better. All I have to say is it’s NBC’s huge loss https://t.co/WthuWTmuZU

Another user pointed out that Love isn’t the only woman being disrespected by NBC:
In the end, Darlene Love seems to be happy about starting a new tradition with ABC. At the end of the show, she said, “I want you guys to hear this from my mouth: This is my new home!â€
