Melanie Panayioutou, sister of pop icon George Michael, passed away aged 55 on the same day as her brother.
According to the BBC , her family confirmed that she had ‘passed away suddenly’ over Christmas.
Her brother, solo artist and lead singer of the band Wham!, died in his UK home on Christmas 2016.
Andrew Ridgeley, George’s former Wham! bandmate, described Melanie’s death as “utterly tragic” and said his thoughts were with her family.
Michael was responsible for pop classics such as ‘Careless Whispers’ and ‘Last Christmas’. A romantic comedy movie, ‘Last Christmas’, has recently been released, inspired by his music.
