new Delhi : Responding to the demand of rail subsidy in the Lok Sabha, Railway Minister Piyush Goyal said that many rail tracks in the country have been more than 100 years old. He said this is a matter of concern, but we have now started auditing all of these. Goyal said that whatever railway minister is, he prays before sleeping in the night, praying that there should be no accident due to these bridges. He told that the railway will soon give an explanation on the sight of which bridge is old, when it has been audited and if any repairs are to be done then why not it happened.
Many projects more than 40 years old
Responding to the Lok Sabha, the Railway Minister accepted that many rail projects in the country are also more than 40 years old, but they are yet to be completed. The oldest railway project in 1974 in Bengal, which is not completed till date, because the state government is not giving land. Many such projects have been hanging in Bengal for decades. Likewise, 9 projects of Kerala are not being fulfilled because the state government is not cooperating. These projects have also been hanging for decades.
The decision to run suburban train in Bengaluru also
The Modi government has decided to run suburban train in the Bangalore of Karnataka on the lines of Mumbai. The Railway Minister said in the Lok Sabha that the trains were told in the old way to run on time till 2014. Now we have introduced automatic data logger system after 2014, which has started getting people to the right information. Timings of trains and real time locations today can see any rail sight on the app.
More than 2 lakh bio-toilets have been installed
Every employee of the railway has now been trained for one week in a year so that he can upgrade by learning new things. The government has decided that we will electrify 100% of the broad gauge line. Railways will install bio-toilets in all 58,400 coaches. Over 2 lakh bio-toilets have been installed. Railway Minister said that Modi government has installed 457 accelerators and 377 lift railway stations from 2014.
Investing in the Railway through various means
Railway Minister Piyush Goyal said that we are bringing investment in the railway through various means. Our intention is to bring an investment of Rs 8.5 lakh crore. Railways has so far taken loan from 18,000 million LICs. The NDA government has electrified 13,000 kilometers of railway line in last 5 years. Railway minister has privatized and pointed out in the Lok Sabha that the government will corporateize some units of railway in the days to come.
The Railway Minister said that ICF coaches in the country have been completely closed and now LHBs are being built rapidly. Accidents have reduced in these cases. While addressing the Congress, the Railway Minister said that Rare Bareli was not an employee in the Modern Rail Coach Factory till 2014 nor did he become a coach, after the Modi government came to power, this factory was working fast and now this modern coach is going to be 2500 coaches have started making. Railways will spend 5,690 crores on rail passenger safety this year. Railway Minister told in the Lok Sabha that rail accidents have decreased compared to past years.
