The Law Commission has demanded the provision of life imprisonment for the accused in the Mob Lynching case from the state government. Commission chairman Retired Justice Adityanath Mittal on Thursday said that if the victim is killed during the mobs lynching, the accused should be given life imprisonment.

There should also be a provision of compensation for the loss of injury or loss of life and property to the family of the victim in the law.

There have been more than 50 incidents of mobs lining between 2012 and 2019 in the state. Of these, 11 were killed and more than 50 were injured. 25 people were seriously injured. The Commission Secretary Sapna Tripathi said on Thursday that "In view of such incidents, the Commission has taken special cognizance and recommended to the state government to make special laws to prevent the violence of the hordes of people. The report said that the state of Manipur has made a separate law so far on this subject, whereas according to media reports, the Madhya Pradesh government is also going to bring separate law on this very soon.
