Islamabad: Pakistan's Prime Minister Imran Khan said on Wednesday that there is a need to create more industries to increase the country's income and generate employment opportunities for which Pakistan needs local and foreign investment.
According to the news agency Xinhua, after meeting with traders and industrialists in Karachi in the country, the Prime Minister held his views in his talks with media persons.
The Prime Minister said, "We have adopted the basic policy of investment rather than borrowing to promote industrialization, because we believe that the country facing economic challenges can be assisted in the same way." He said that his government is trying to give every possible facility to the investors.
Khan said that his government is encouraging the policy of "ease of doing business" by bringing investors into the country, by improving the mechanism, by removing the barriers they face, by providing cheap electricity and gas to them.
Khan acknowledged that by expanding industrialization, exports and business activities would increase and this would help Pakistan seeking more credit from international lenders.
Khan praised China especially to help in promoting exports from Pakistan, stating that China has helped Pakistan a lot in realizing the possibility of major economic crisis during the last year.
