Lahore: The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Monday granted bail to mastermind of the Mumbai terror attacks and Jamaat-ud-Dawa chief Terrorist Hafeez Saeed and three others on bail. According to Dawn News, this verdict has been taken in a matter of using the land of Madarsa for illegal activities. According to the report, besides Saeed, Hafiz Masood, Amer Hamza and Malik Zafar have been given interim bail on the payment of 50,000 Pakistani rupees till August 31. During the hearing, the legal counsel of the accused urged the court to accept bail plea and said that Jamaat-ud-Dawa is not using any piece of land illegally.
Meanwhile, the Lahore High Court (LHC) issued notice to the Federal Government, the Punjab Government and Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) about the petition filed by Sayed and his seven associates, in which case a challenge was given by CTD . The two-member bench of LHC asked the parties to submit their replies within two weeks.
A federal government lawyer also expressed objection to the notice. But the bench rejected the objection and postponed proceedings till July 30. According to a joint petition given at the beginning of July, leaders of Jamaat-ud-Dawa told the facts that according to the case filed on July 1, they were illegally as a member of the terrorist group of Lashkar-e-Taiba Has been reported.
Earlier on July 3, nearly two dozen cases related to terror and money laundering were registered under the Prevention of Terrorism Act, 1997 on the top 13 leaders of Jamaat-ud-Dawa, including Sayed and Nb Amir Abdul Rehman Makki.
