Dhanoa told about the air operations in the Kargil war on the occasion of 20 years of Operation White Sea. He said – it was the first time when the bomb was thrown on the ground by air through the MiG-21 aircraft. In 1999, the IAF operated Operation White Sea under Operation Vijay to break out the intruders from Kargil. Dhanoa was then the commanding officer of 17 Squadron.
'Can answer any danger'
Dhanoa said that after the Kargil war, the capabilities of the Air Force increased greatly. This allows us to respond to any type of danger in the air. The capacity to throw the bombs at Kargil was only in Miraj-2000, today the capacity is also in Suooi-30, Jaguar, MiG-29 and MiG-27 Upgraded. There were 40 soldiers in the Pulwama attack on February 14 this year. This was followed by Air Force attack in Balakot, Pakistan.
He said that today we are capable of carrying the BVR (Beyond Visual Range) missile from Sukhoi-30, MiG-29 and Miraj 2000. The Air Force has AWACKS, which can monitor the airspace from the inner part of the enemy country.
