new Delhi: In the Supreme Court, on Tuesday, hearing of appeals of 15 rebel MLAs of Congress and JDS were heard. Senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi said that from rebel legislators, he no longer wants to be a legislator. Nobody can make them pressurize for it. These MLAs have accused Karnataka Assembly Speaker Ramesh Kumar that he is not accepting his resignation. On behalf of rebel legislators, he said that the MLAs have decided to resign and are ready to go back to the public. Being disqualified against them will be against this desire.
There is a political crisis in Karnataka since July 6. So far 16 MLAs of Congress and JDS have resigned. Out of these, 13 are from Congress and 3 MLAs of JDS. Of these, 15 MLAs have gone against the speaker in the Supreme Court. While hearing the case today, the Supreme Court made it clear that the speaker has to decide what they have to do. While hearing the case, Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi said that we will not decide what to do with the speaker speaker. However, we can only see if the speaker can decide on what issue the constitution speaks first. There is a big setback for rebel legislators.
Government is pressing
Mukul Rohatgi said that the government has no proof, because of which he could disqualify him. In this way, he is not compromising his resignation and forcing him to attend the assembly. HD Kumaraswamy Government will face floor test on 18th July. If the legislators do not appear there then the government will fall. The government will fall. Therefore, the idea is to keep their resignation hanging so that the sword of disqualification hangs over them.
Crisis continues from July 11
It is important to note that till July 11, 16 Congress-JDS legislators have resigned from their posts, while two independent MLAs have withdrawn their support from the government. Because of which the government has come in a minority and the opposition party BJP is constantly demanding resignation of Kumaraswamy.
