The following list includes recent reports from the Midland County Sheriff’s Office and the Midland Police Department. Compiled by reporter Mitchell Kukulka.
Friday, July 12
11:41 p.m. — A 52-year-old man said that an unknown subject stole a solar yard light valued at $5 from his front yard.
11:14 p.m. — Deputies were dispatched to a Porter Township residence in reference to a 31-year-old woman that had reportedly taken a “handful of pills” after an argument with her live-in boyfriend.
Deputies contacted the residents and the woman said she was having a rough night because her daughter was murdered recently and her boyfriend would not leave her alone and just let her sleep. She said that she took her normal prescribed pills and the proper dosage. Emergency medical service teams were called to the scene for an evaluation and the woman agreed to go to the hospital voluntarily to talk to someone from the Mental Health unit.
11:11 p.m. — A 29-year-old Midland woman was arrested following a traffic stop in Mills Township for an outstanding warrant out of 75th District Court. She was transported to the Midland County Jail.
10:51 p.m. — Officers performed a warrant arrest after responding to a retail fraud in the 6200 block of Eastman Avenue.
10:19 p.m. — A 47-year-old woman said that her neighbor was shooting off fireworks which were landing in her yard. Contact was made with a 30-year-old male neighbor, who said he was lighting off some “bottle rockets” for the kids and did not realize they were going into the neighbor’s yard. He said that he would be more careful and make sure the fireworks stayed in his yard.
8:01 p.m. — Deputies were notified of drug activity at a residence in Lee Township. The information as turned over to Bay Area Narcotics Enforcement Team.
7:16 p.m. — Officers responded to a report of malicious destruction of property in the 1600 block of West Hines Street.
3:03 p.m. — Deputies conducted a traffic stop in Greendale Township. Deputies made contact with the driver, a 33-year-old Saginaw man.
The 33-year-old did not have a valid license and had three confirmed warrants out of Saginaw. Deputies arrested him and transported.
Deputies arranged for the 33-year-old’s son, a 9-year-old boy, to be picked up by his 67-year-old grandfather. The vehicle was towed by Mid-State Towing.
3:02 p.m. — A deputy was dispatched to Jerome Township for a two-vehicle crash with minor injuries. The at-fault driver, a 24-year-old Hope Township woman, was cited for being unable to stop in assured clear distance and having no insurance.
1:32 p.m. — Officers responded to a crash resulting in property damage in the area of East Lyon Road and Washington Street.
11:30 a.m. — Deputies responded to a car-goose crash in Mount Haley Township.
11:05 a.m. — Deputies responded to a delayed report of a car-deer crash in Edenville Township.
5:27 a.m. — A deputy was dispatched to a Jerome Township residence in reference to a suspicious situation — the complainant found a plastic baggie with a foul smelling brown substance in it and believed it could be drugs. The complainant is also going through a divorce with his wife and thought it may be related to her experimenting with drugs.
The deputy examined the substance and it was some type of rotting material, not a controlled substance.
5:04 a.m. — Deputies responded to a Mount Haley Township residence regarding a suspicious person. Deputies made contact with a 53-year-old man who said he observed two individuals wearing backpacks walking through his yard.
The man said nothing was taken or broken into. Deputies searched the area but did not locate the individuals.
12:31 a.m. — Deputies responded to a car-deer crash in Porter Township.
