Kolkata. Noble award-winning economist Amartya Sen said in West Bengal on Friday that, 'Jai Shri Ram' slogan is being used to beat people all over the country. This slogan is not part of Bengali culture. I have never heard the slogan 'Jai Shri Ram' in this way before today. It is now used to beat people. I think it has no relation to Bengali culture.
Mother Durga can not be compared to Ram Navami – Sen
Sen said – I have never seen Ram Navami celebration in this state before today. But now it is very popular. I asked my four-year-old granddaughter, who are your favorite gods? She said – Mother Durga Mother Durga can not be compared to Ram Navami.
Sen said – If people of certain religions are afraid to roam freely, then this is a serious matter. This statement of Sen came after the incident in which there was a dispute about parking between the two sides.
In fact, the temple of Mother Durga was demolished in Hauz Kaji area of â€‹â€‹Old Delhi. In an incident in the Pargan district of Bhatpara in May, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had also expressed her anger against Jai Shri Ram's slogan. There has been a controversy over this slogan between Trinamool Congress and BJP workers for the past few months.
Police drop tear gas shells on BJP workers
On the other side, there was a clash between BJP Youth Morcha (BJP) workers and the police in West Burdwan district on Friday. Four people were injured in this. According to police sources, the scheme of BJYM was to protest against several issues in front of the Asansol Municipality Building. But they did not get permission from the administration for this.
Thousands of workers allegedly threw stones and glass bottles on the police. After this the police left the tear gas shells to separate the crowd. BJP candidate Babul Supriyo won the 2014 and 2019 seats in the Asansol Lok Sabha seat.
Mamta said – we will return to the elections in 2021
Trinamool Congress supremo Mamta Banerjee held a meeting with workers in Bankura and Jhargram districts on Friday. He also reprimanded the local leaders for the defeat in the Lok Sabha elections. Mamta said – I have full confidence that we will return to the elections of 2021.
After the meeting, a senior leader of Bankura's Trinamool said, the party chief has told the workers that those who are working for the BJP should immediately leave the party. TMC lost three seats in two districts in the Lok Sabha elections, while BJP won here
