Thiruvananthapuram Due to heavy rains in Kerala, general public life has been badly affected. So far 4 people were killed in the incident and three were missing. Alerts have been issued in the districts of Kasargod, Idukki, Kozhikode and Kannur districts till July 23.
The coastal police officer told that the missing fishermen are being investigated. A Coast Guard ship and two boats have been planted for the search. The body of a fisherman Sahyaraju (55) of Tamil Nadu was found in Kollam district. Two other fishermen swim and came out. The naval personnel recovered the body of another man Manesh Sebastian from Kottayam. The Meteorological Department has issued alerts in Kosargod and Idukki till July 21, in Kozhikode, Wayanad and Kannur till July 22 and till July 25 in Kottayam, Ernakulam, Thrissur and Mallapuram. The Kerala government has instructed the tourists to stay away from the congested beach due to the danger. Also, fishermen are forbidden to enter the sea.
The houses were evacuated in the coastal areas
The state disaster management authority has evacuated hundreds of homes from coastal areas. Crops have also been damaged in many districts of the state. He said that Koshy Varghese (53) died after drowning in the Manimala river in Tiruvalla.
