Washington. US President Donald Trump first gave a statement on mediation on Kashmir issue. Former diplomats believe that this could have an impact on Indo-US relations. Richard Verma, former US ambassador to India, said that President Trump suffered a lot today. Their statements on Kashmir and Afghanistan were absolutely wrong targets.
Indian Ministry of Foreign Affairs rejects Trump's statement
Trump said on Monday that during a joint press conference with Imran Khan, Modi had been with him two weeks ago and he had offered mediation on the Kashmir issue. On this, Imran said that if you can do this, then billions of people will give you a favor.
The Indian Foreign Ministry rejected Trump's claim just about an hour after the shared press conference. The Ministry issued a statement saying that there was no such thing as Prime Minister Modi and Trump. India is firm on its decision. All issues with Pakistan will be resolved through bilateral talks only.
Trump's statement shameful: Democrat MP
Bram Sharhamman, MP of the United Democratic Party of America, described this statement as tragic as shameful. He tweeted, "I just apologized to Indian Ambassador Harsh Shrungala for an inexplicable statement of Trump. Anyone who knows a bit too much about South Asia's foreign policy knows that India does not want third party interference on the Kashmir issue. Everyone knows that Prime Minister Modi will never say anything like this. Trump's statement is confusing. "
Troupe will soon understand the complexity of South Asian Affairs: Haqqani
Hussain Haqqani, former US diplomat based in Pakistan also held his opinion on the matter. He said, "President Trump will soon understand the complexity of South Asian issues. He has also sought help from Pakistan in a matter of Afghanistan. They feel that Pak wants them. "
Haqqani said, "Trump praises Imran as he praised him for the dictator Kim Jong of North Korea. This is their own way of reaching an agreement. But as no agreement was reached on Korea's case, they will now know how intriguing the historic issue of South Asia is to a real estate deal. "
Trump went to the meeting with Imran without preparation
Ex-diplomat Elisa Ayes of the Foreign Ministry said, "I think Trump is not prepared for meeting with Imran. Without them, the statements given are illogical. The Government of India rejected what they said today on Kashmir in just a few hours. Every little thing in diplomacy is to pay attention. Whether it be a language or a fact of history. We do not see it today. "
