Kolkata: The Indian football team can play their first match of the second round of the 2020 FIFA World Cup 2022 Asian Qatar qualifier in Qatar on September 5 against Oman at the Indira Gandhi Athletics Stadium here. Indian football team has been placed in Group-E along with Oman, Asian champion Qatar, Afghanistan and Bangladesh.
Sources of the All India Football Federation (AIFF) told IANS that Guwahati may possibly be the place after improvements in the facilities during ISL. He said, "AFC officials will soon inspect the venue and then make a final decision on it, but now it seems that Guwahati is the front for hosting the first match."
Host FIFA Under-17
In the qualifiers, India will also play its second match at home, which can be held in the Vivekananda Yuva Bharati Kidangan in Kolkata. This stadium has hosted the FIFA U-17 World Cup finals.
Home ground of FC City
The third stadium is Mumbai's Football Arena, which is home to the Mumbai FC City. This stadium has hosted the Intercontinental Cup last year.
Will be played till 9th â€‹â€‹June
According to the FIFA rankings, the top 34 Asian teams will join the second round. The teams are divided into five groups of 8-8 teams. The second round match will be played from September 5 this year to June 9 next year.
