Kaluram Jakhar son of Ganganam Jakhar resident of Khedi Charanan village of Bhodalgarh area of â€‹â€‹Jodhpur, was admitted to army on Sep 28, 1994, in the Jat Regiment of Indian Army on Sep 28, 1994. Four to four and a half years later, they were deployed in the Jammu region. The Kargil war had started in May 1999. Kaluram was positioned in the People-2-Star Sector with its regiment at an altitude of 17850 feet on the hill of Kargil.
During this, the Pakistani army attacked their regiment on July 4, 1999. A bomb's bullet came on Kaluram's foot and his legs were separated from the body. In spite of this, Kaluram fought with the enemies and demolished a bunker of enemies with his rocket launcher and killed eight intruders hidden in it.

Kaluram Jakhar sent a letter to his mother from Kargil only. Later it was found that the day he wrote the account. On that day they were martyred. In the letter, he was addressing his mother, writing that mother, do not you worry about me. Shilakar of the name of your son will be found in the village and one day your son will know the whole world how he fought with the enemies. This letter of Kaluram remained the last letter of his life.
