(1) Account will open only for 250 rupees- This is the most important change in the rules related to Sukanya Samrudhi Yojna. Earlier, Rs 1000 had to be deposited for opening an account under this scheme, but now you can open this account for only Rs 250 in case of your child. (2) The limit of the deposit amount also decreased- Keeping in mind the common man from the government side, there has been a change in the limit of keeping minimum amount on annual basis in Sukanya Samrudhi Yojana. Prior to the minimum deposit of Rs.1000 per year, it was mandatory. But, now it has been reduced to just Rs 250. New rules are in effect from July 6, 2018.

(3) Interest will be fixed every quarter- At the beginning, interest on the account was available on the basis of Sukanya Samrudhi Yojana on an annual basis, but according to the new rules, the government will fix fresh interest every quarter on the deposit amount under this scheme. Such a provision is already in other small savings schemes such as PPF and Senior Citizen Savings Scheme. At present, the interest (compound) of 8.1 percent in the Sukanya Samrudhi Yojana is getting annually. When can you withdraw money-You can not withdraw money before the daughter turns 18 At the age of 21, the account becomes maturing. After completing 18 years of daughter, you get partial withdrawal facility. Meaning you can withdraw 50% of the amount in the account.
