MONTICELLO, Ind. (WLFI) — Two Illinois girls are recovering from injuries after their tube crashed on Monticello’s Lake Freeman.
It happened Wednesday morning. A 911 call came in around 8 a.m.
A woman was driving a boat upstream from the US 421 bridge with three kids on a tube.
Indiana Department of Natural Resources said the sun caused her to misjudge the distance between a dock and the tube. That lead to a collision.
A 13-year-old girl and an 11-year-old girl were hurt.
One of the girls had to be airlifted to Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis.
The third child and anybody else in the boat were not injured.
Everyone was wearing life jackets.
Alcohol or drugs are not suspected as factors in the crash.Â
