Holds a unique Oscar record. Its the ONLY film to be nominated in all four acting categories for best direction and best screenplay but NOT for best picture of the year. Incredibly 1936 also saw a best picture nomination for a film called LIBELED LADY, which received no nominations in any other category.
I didnt know Carole Lombard and William Powell had been married to each other but were divirced when they made this movie. I love William Powell: he was handsome, debonair, classy, was always dressed to kill and had sexy swagger. I love just watching him walk across a room: his walk was something. No man looked better in a tux back then than William Powell. I think Lombard was married to Clark Gable when she was killed in a plane crash years later. She was very annoying in this movie and was batsh*t crazy. They shouldve had Powell kick her out of his house at the end of the movie instead of marrying her.
Don Adams, the star of the TV series "Get Smart" did impressions when he was a standup comedian. On of his impressions was of William Powell, and he use that impression to help create his "Maxwell Smart" character.
This was the movie that made me fall in love with William Powell and Carole Lombard. Amazing they were so good together even after their divorce. They honestly care about one another, it's obvious! I love nearly every movie he made! RIP William Powell! RIP Carole Lombard, such a tragic end to her life.
Everyone loves this film for the daffy or is it crazy, Miss Lombard and her straight-man Powell….and Alice Brady and meanie Gail Patrick. All adept comedians. A real Screwball Comedy Classic. Thanks
Very strange edit goof at roughly 32:40 where Cornelia talks about being stabbed to death but the editor does not cut on her lines. I don't see how that could have been deliberate.
This movie has always been one of my favorite screwball comedies from the 1930's in my opinion the golden age of Hollywood thank you for making it avaliable once again.
Hey Timeless Classics, thanks for sharing these lovely gems! I have a good amount of classics as well, and I want to share them on Youtube as well, how do you do it?

This, film is talked about alot in Homeless Community's
Very sweet movie ⤠Thank you!
One of my top ten. The dishwashing scene is as sweet as pie. Keep in mind that they had just divorced when that scene was filmed.
Amazing how art imitates life… This movie is a masterpiece.
I can almost Goofy’s falling yell when Mr Bullock throws Carlo out the window.
It'll all be over in a minute…one of the greatest closing lines ever!
Great movie. Thank you.
Very inventive and unique opening credits.

This must be a different version. I have the movie but that scene 36:50 or little before where she goes to Godfrey's room after the couch kiss.

Excellent cast, script and performances. Thank you.
At the risk of offending the delicate sensibilities of the movie's viewership, I for one would like to acknowledge Gail Patrick's exceptional bottom.

Back when women were encouraged to be retarded.
