Jenna Bush Hager Provides Start to Child Boy After Going into Labor Whereas Filming With Willie Geist …

Congratulations are in order for Jenna Bush Hager. The TODAY with Hoda & Jenna co-host just announced that she gave birth Friday. She and her husband Henry Hager welcomed a baby boy named Henry Harold “Hal” Hager. This is the couple’s first son; they also have two daughters, Mila, 6, and Poppy, 3.

The daughter of former President George W. Bush shared the news on Instagram this morning, saying that life has “never been sweeter” since welcoming their bundle of joy “to the world.”

She posted three photos, one of which includes her husband, all her children and her parents.

According to TODAY, Henry was born at 7-pounds, 5-ounces, measuring 19.29 inches long. He’s the first grandson for both sides of the family, and Hal inherited his middle name from Jenna’s grandfather, Harold Welch—the father of former first lady Laura Bush.

Bush Hager called in to TODAY this morning to share the news with the world. “We weren’t exactly sure about the name,” Jenna told her co-hosts. “Then his big sisters called him ‘Hal pal,’ and we thought, ‘This is just perfect.’”

She joked that her dad was “a little mad that the name wasn’t George,” But in reality, the former POTUS assured her that Hal “was a cool name.”

She also shared that her little girls were able to pick him out of the nursery. “They’re just crazy about him…The girls are so thrilled that they have a little baby brother all of their own,” she said.

The new mom of three admitted not really knowing what to do her “party of five” but she isn’t letting that get her down. “I feel good. I feel happy,” she said. “You know, I think when you’re holed up in a hospital room with a newborn and you see the joy and the light in his eyes, you realize this is what life is for—to make the world better for our little babes.”

A news anchor at heart, Bush Hager was even more moved considering the tragic events that happened around the country this weekend. “Even though the news outside these walls isn’t so great, you see the joy in their eyes and know that that’s what we’re here to do…to make their lives safe.”
