Holy Bridget of Sweden, the early years – the movie (half 1)

I share with you this first part of this excellent production made for the Catholic television channel EWTN of Santa Brígida of Sweden.

To see the second part enter:

Every July 23, Saint Brigida, Patron of Sweden, founder of the Order of the Blessed Savior, mother of Saint Catherine of Sweden (also known as Saint Catherine of Vadstena) and proclaimed by Saint John Paul II as Patron of Europe, is remembered.

To this mystic saint, the Lord revealed some prayers with great promises for the conversion and salvation of souls.

The Supreme Pontiff Emeritus Benedict XVI said in 2010, when talking about the saint, that her life shows the role and dignity of women in the Church and that she was always characterized by her “attitude of respect and full fidelity to the Magisterium of the Church, in particular to the Successor of the apostle Peter. "

Santa Brígida was born in Sweden in 1302 and died in Rome (Italy) at the age of 70 on July 23, 1373, being canonized 18 years after his death.

Wife and mother of eight children, being a widow decides to give up a second marriage and devote himself to prayer, penance and charity. He sold what he had and entered without religious consecration to the Cistercian monastery of Alvastra, in his native country.

In his mystical experiences he received from the Blessed Virgin Mary the daily devotion to the Seven Sorrows, which consists of praying seven Hail Mary daily meditating on the tears and pains of the Mother of God, promising that whoever makes them, the Virgin will grant peace, will give whatever they ask for, as long as it is not contrary to God's will, he will defend souls in spiritual combat, among other promises.

For his part, the Lord revealed fifteen prayers that are prayed for a year also accompanied by great promises, as well as prayers for twelve years. In the church of St. Paul in Rome, the Miraculous Crucifix sculpted by Pierre Cavallini is located above the tabernacle, in the Chapel of the Blessed Sacrament, before which the saint received her knees.

If you wish to know more about this mystical Saint, Saint Bridget of Sweden invites you to visit:

I also share with you your novena which begins on July 14 and ends on July 22 (one day before your party) it is worth mentioning that your novena can be prayed at any time of the year:

I also take this opportunity to recommend you read the treatise of true devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary written by St. Louis Mary Grignion de Montfort, in which you will discover the great importance of being Marians, since his hand leads us with his most holy son, the Blessed Virgin Mary is the shortest, safest and most perfect way to go to Jesus, Our Lord Jesus Christ came into the world through the Blessed Virgin Mary and through her must also reign in the world. God the Father gathered all the waters in a place he called the sea and likewise made a single mass with all his graces and called her Mary. You can view and download the book at the following link:

Let us remember that the saints are role models and intercessors before God Our Lord, God is the one who performs the miracles and graces that we ask through them.

May Our Lord Jesus Christ bless you, our mother, Saint Mary of Guadalupe, protect you and cover you with your Holy Mantle and may Saint Joseph accompany you. Peace and good.
