new Delhi. The southwest monsoon is witnessing a dramatic change. Now more than normal is expected in the event of seasonal rains. Earlier, during June-September, there was a weakness in the monsoon, after which there was a possibility of drought. After two weeks of torrential rains, the rains have fallen just 2.5% below normal levels. In June, it was feared that this year many states are going to be in the grip of drought.

But the rainfall in this month has been 39% above normal. Which last year helped fill 103 major reservoirs of India to 99% level at this time. A week ago, these reservoirs were filled up to 74 percent. These reservoirs store water for drinking, irrigation and power generation after the monsoon. The progress of the southwest monsoon determines the mood of the rural economy as more than half of India's agriculture depends entirely on rainfall for irrigation.

A good monsoon increases crop production and rural income, which increases demand for automobiles, consumer goods, gold and other commodities in rural India. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) expects heavy rains to continue in many parts of the country. The Met Office forecast for the next seven days that Gujarat, Maharashtra, southern parts of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, Kerala, Lakshadweep and Andaman and Nicobar Islands are expected to receive more than normal rainfall.

At the same time, the pace of monsoon in the country has slowed down. However, the intermittent rain has reduced the temperature. The capital has been cloudy since morning. However, the Meteorological Department has predicted that the pace of rain will remain sluggish for two-three days. Lucknow recorded a minimum temperature of 24 degrees Celsius on Friday. According to the Meteorological Department, due to slow monsoon activities, a slow spell of rain will continue for two-three days. However, in the meantime, the movement of clouds, light rain is expected to occur somewhere between strong and windy.
