new Delhi: Indian women's badminton players PV Sindhu and Saina Nehwal can face each other against each other in the semi-finals of the World Championships to be held in Basel, Switzerland from 19 to 25 August. The World Badminton Federation (BWF) said on its website on Friday that the women's singles category has been drawn again.
The BWF said, "One player was mistakenly placed in the women's singles category and the BWF corrected this category and drew again."
According to the new draw, Sindhu and Saina can play each other in the semi-finals if they cross the opening hurdle of the tournament.
Both Indian players got a bye in the first round. Saina, who won two silver medals at the World Championships, will take on the winner of the match between Sabrina Jacquet of Switzerland and Soraya de Bisch Isbergen of the Netherlands in the second round.
On the other hand, Olympic silver medalist Sindhu will play against Chinese Taipei's Paiu Po or Bulgaria's Linda Zechiri.
If both the players win the first match, then Indus will face America's Beven Zhang in the third round while Saina will face Mia Blichfeldt of Denmark.
