new Delhi. The Central Government has reacted to the news which claimed that large scale protests were taking place in Jammu and Kashmir. The ministry has denied these reports outright. Some media organizations of the world, especially Pakistan's media, claimed that large scale protests are taking place in Srinagar following the withdrawal of Article 370. It was even said that around 10,000 people are involved in these demonstrations.


Such reports of protest are wrong

An official statement on Twitter has been released by the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Home Affairs. "There are some media reports claiming that protests are taking place in Srinagar involving 10,000 people," the statement said. These reports are completely false and fabricated. The statement further informs, "Some protests are taking place in Srinagar and Baramulla and the number of people involved is not more than 20".

In a report released by news agency Reuters, there were protests on Friday with 10,000 people. A police officer and an eyewitness were cited in this report. The police officer had told in this report that people gathered in Shura area of ​​Srinagar. This group violated Section 144 and due to this the police had to take action. Police pushed people back from the Iowa Bridge. Reuters had also written about firing tear gas shells and pellet guns here. The news agency was quoted as saying by the eyewitness, "Some women and children jumped into the water to escape." Referring to the police officer, Reuters had written that around 10,000 people had gathered in Shura and this was the biggest protest ever.
