Many important routes of Maharashtra have been closed due to floods. So far, about 4 lakh people have been shifted from flood affected areas in Maharashtra. On Sunday, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis reached the Ministry Control Room to take stock of the flood situation in the state and interacted with the officials.

Food and relief supplies are being provided to the people in flood affected areas. On Sunday, the Indian Navy distributed food, fruits and relief material to the flood-affected people in Kolhapur and Sangli districts of the state. At the same time, more than five lakh cusecs of water has been released from the Almati dam on the Krishna River in Karnataka to improve the flood situation in western Maharashtra. The official said 53,882 cusecs of water has been released from Koyna Dam in Satara as its embanked area is still raining.

Divisional commissioner Deepak Masskar in Pune, Maharashtra said that 40 people have died in the floods in western Maharashtra so far. The death toll in the Sangli Brahmanal boat accident has been 17. The dead include 6 from Kolhapur, 19 from Sangli, 7 from Satara. Messkar told that flood water is receding in Sangli, Kolhapur. The situation is more worrisome in Kolhapur, Pune, Solapur, Satara, Sangli, Ratnagiri, Palghar, Raigad districts. Army and NDRF teams are working day and night to save people trapped in the floods.
