In terms of memory, North Koreans are no less. The 22-year-old Pang here remembers more than 5000 marks in just 18 seconds. Not only this, she recalls the entire order of cards (52 leaves) in less than a minute, and collects it again.

Won Parcham in the World Memory Championship

  1. In December last year, North Korea joined the World Memory Championship for the first time. It was Pang who represented the country. The Korean team won 7 gold, 7 silver and 5 bronze medals. Pang says – It is not easy. But when you start trying better in the given time, things start to remember. It is not as difficult as people understand it. If you enjoy it, it is quite simple.

  2. Pang Overall finished second in the championship. He amassed 5187 binary numbers and 1772 cards in one hour. Pong has the record of setting a deck of playing cards in the same order in 17.67 seconds. Pang's teammate Ri Song Me Overall finished 7th. He recalled 302 words in 15 seconds.

  3. In a championship event, 60 minutes is given to remember as many words as possible. Three of the top 5 players were from North Korea. Of these, 2 broke the world record, with Pang scoring 3240 points.

  4. The organizers did not expect until the last minute that the North Korean team would be able to participate in the competition. One of the founders of the championship, Tony Buzan, says – registration was about to end, his team came in the last moments and registered their names. It was our turn to be shocked during the end of the championship. North Korean players finished in the top 3 in 10 events.

  5. According to North Korean team coach Cha Yong Ho – memory techniques are taught to children from middle school. To remember things, we seek the help of everything that is in our mind, including feeling (emotions), test (taste), movement (motion), imagination (imagination), rhymes (sloka).
