Zeitgeist: Moving Forward, by director Peter Joseph, is a documentary feature that presents the case of a necessary transition outside the current socio-economic paradigm, which governs our entire society. This issue transcends the issues of cultural relativism and traditional ideology, focusing on the core of the conflict, on the empirical attributes of "life on earth" and social survival, extrapolating these immutable natural laws towards a new paradigm of sustainable society. called "Resource Based Economy".
This film presents experts in the fields of public health, anthropology, neurobiology, economics, energy, technology, social sciences and other relevant fields that are linked to social operation and culture. The three central themes of the work are Human Behavior, Monetary Economics and Applied Science. Together this piece creates a model of understanding towards the current social paradigm, why it is essential to leave it, along with a new, radical and still practical social approach based on cutting-edge knowledge, which will solve the social problems that the World faces today.
A unique attribute of this work, which distinguishes it in the style of most documentaries, is that in parallel it presents a great dramaturgical and cinematographic work, with notable actors who, in an abstract way interpret various themes related to the essential message of the film. The work also uses numerous animations and visual abstracts in 2D and 3D, without neglecting the traditional orientation of a documentary.
The director, producer, writer, director of photography, composer, editor and narrator of the work, Peter Joseph, jumped inadvertently to the world scene after having obtained recognition within the documentary film community with his award-winning and controversial work "Zeitgeist: The Movie "(launched in 2007), which obtained more than 100 million online visits during the first year of its publication. This movie was not a movie at all in its original conception, but it became one after having achieved worldwide acclaim
In 2008, a sequel to his work entitled "Zeitgeist Addendum" was awarded at the Artivist Film Festival in Hollywood, California. Like its predecessor, the award-winning "Addendum" was a huge viral phenomenon on the internet, obtaining nearly 50 million visits in the first year.
After the launch of this sequel, Joseph founded a social movement inspired by the reaction of the public: The Zeitgeist Movement. This global organization, which currently has more than half a million members in around 200 countries, works to initiate a cultural transition towards a new sustainable economic paradigm and Zeitgeist Moving Forward is, in part, a media expression with the same approach.
The Zeitgeist Movement is an extension of the "Venus Project" – an organization established by industrial designer Jacque Fresco, which also stands out in the film.
"Zeitgeist: Moving Forward" is the fourth installment of, what has now become, a project of several feature films that continue to consider the current "Zeitgeist" – meaning the Spirit or Consciousness of the Age ", that is, the culture.
