  1. The house Anthony walks into at the beginning of this clip is number 130, Engel Park, Mill Hill, London, NW7 2HP and he is wearing the uniform of his school, Christ's College in East End Road in nearby Finchley. Both the house and the school are still there. The narrator is Duncan Carse (yes, he's passed on now, too, in 2004 at the age of 90).

  2. Incredible to think that this was filmed 70 years ago (come 2015) and that everyone connected with "Great Expectations" is now dead. I thought that Anthony Wager (then aged 13) was wonderful as the young Pip and I would love to have been able to meet him and talk to him. However, I wasn't born until April, 1947, so about 18 months after this Pathe Pictorial sequence was filmed. His mother sitting at the table was actually his step mother, so I wonder what became of his birth mother. Did she die when Anthony was younger? Does anyone know?
