Amravati A boat carrying tourists drowned in the Godavari River on Sunday afternoon in East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh. It had 9 crew members and 51 tourists. 12 people died in the accident. 17 were rescued, while 31 are missing. Due to the rains, the flow in the Godavari river has intensified and this has also led to problems in rescue operations. According to police, the boat belonged to a private operator and the accident occurred when the boat hit a rock in the river.
Superintendent of Police Adnan Naeem Asami said that the boat had left from Papikondalu, the main tourist destination and sank near Kachhaluru. Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy has given Rs 10 lakh for the family of the people killed in the accident. Has announced compensation.
Boat operation in Godavari was closed
According to the police, in addition to 140 members of the NDRF, SDRF, helicopters were also deployed in the rescue operations. Two sailors of this boat named Royal Vasistha are also among those killed. The boat had a license, but whether or not the necessary permission was taken to carry tourists in flood-like conditions is not clear. Police said that all types of boat operations in Godavari were closed due to the flood situation.

3 died due to drowning in river Yamuna in Haryana
