Overlook Samsung's Galaxy S10 And Observe 10, This Is The Smartphone To Purchase

Samsung’s Galaxy S10 and Galaxy Note 10 are two of my favourite smartphones of 2019 (particularly the Note) but they are also incremental upgrades and now red hot new Galaxy S11 leaks are showing us why we might regret purchasing anything else.

SamMobile, The Elec and popular Samsung insider Ice Universe have all dropped major exclusives about the Galaxy S11’s groundbreaking camera as well as the phone’s surprisingly early availability. So you won’t have to wait long.

Regarding the camera, The Elec reveals the Galaxy S11 has a massive 5x optical zoom which is already prepped for final testing. MecaTech Systems, a Korean manufacturer of test sockets for smartphone modules, has been brought in for the checks according to The Elec’s industry sources – and they have been right before.

Building on this, Ice Universe has teased fans with the news that “The S11 doesn’t just have a normal 5x optical zoom”. This is significant because Huawei delivered a 5x optical zoom in its P30 Pro this year, so Samsung is not simply playing catch-up. But exactly how Samsung is breaking the mould remains unknown. For now.

That said, we should get the answers sooner than ever before because SamMobile reports that the Galaxy S11 will have the earliest launch date of any Galaxy S smartphone. The site’s sources pin the release on “the third week of February” with February 18 strongly tipped. This beats the Galaxy S10 launch by two days, but Galaxy S launches are typically several weeks later. Notably, the Galaxy S8 did not launch until April.

And based on what we know already about the Galaxy S11, the shorter the wait the better. Industry insiders have uncovered an upgraded design, major performance increases, next-gen memory, (radical) new battery tech, a supersized fingerprint sensor and a heavy focus on AI image processing.

The one fear is an isolated report that Samsung will merge the Galaxy S11 and Note 11 to create an all-new Galaxy One smartphone – something I fear would lose the uniqueness of the Note, in particular. That said, in my opinion, potential Galaxy S10 and Note 10 buyers would be mad not to wait and see what Samsung delivers.
